Boston Moments

They say heaven is different for everyone- it's thought it may even be somewhere you felt complete, whole and totally fulfilled on earth. Well. if that's the case, and in the unlikely event I ever make it into heaven, then I'll be spending eternity outlet shopping in Massachusetts. That's where I was, you see,  this exact time last week- childfree, with dollars to spend (because we all know it doesn't really count when it's a different currency) and in a state of absolute bliss.

We spent the entire day there, but honestly, I could've spent a week...and then some. Which probably says more about me than anything else, but seriously does anything beat retail therapy? Especially when you come armed with coupons, with your head turned by dizzy promises of flash sales and Christmas specials. Ahhhh, good times....

We were only there for the long weekend, but I left utterly sure that we could emigrate there- hell, let's just do it right now! And it wasn't just the shopping-it's a special city, steeped in history and culture and utterly resplendant in Autumn....and it doesn't hurt they've a soft spot for the Irish!

We were lucky enough to reside in the lap of luxury with my cousin and her family- she was our tour guide, our chauffeur, our hostess with the mostess, so thank you Anne! Was it really only a weekend? We packed in so much...but not too much- there was enough time to catch a movie and go for a walk, to eat pancakes and meet new friends, to relax and to laugh and to enjoy the craic.

The highlights...
1. What we saw..... Top of the Hub, the restaurant on the 52nd floor of the Prudential building in Downtown Boston. An absolute top moment-this view, a perfectly chilled sauvignon, and a bit of craic -sure what's not to like?

 2. Fabulous...and a delicious early Christmas present...for moi. (thank you Auntie R!)

3. What I bought......I dreamt of these and suddenly there they were. Never having owned a pair of Converse myself, due to my long term aversion to flat shoes, these cheeky wedges were a revelation. Sooo comfortable...and yet not flat. The best of both worlds, surely?

4.What I read... You know it's a good book when you don't want it to end and the characters feel like friends. Oh, how I would love to be able to write like this!

5. What we watched....... Based on a true story it's tragic, shocking and desperately sad but it keeps you riveted right till the end. The brilliant Chiwetel Ejiofor plays Solomon Northup, and Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt and Benedict Cumberbatch also star. (Or Benedict Cumberbund as my Mum called him). Go. See. It.

6. I've collected tree decorations for years so this was a no-brainer. And for the record, do you know how hard it was to find one with five kids?? Snow joke, I'll tell ya. (Sorreeeeeeeee!Couldn't resist.)

Have a good weekend, my lovelies xxx
