My Kinda Pet

After Arthur's tragic demise last year, there have been rumblings about getting another dog and I'm not going to lie to you, I've mixed feelings about the whole thing.

That is to say that I could really take it or leave it....with a preference for leaving it.
That's NOT to say that having Arthur for his short little life wasn't a (mostly) positive experience. Just that if it were up to me, the whole pet box thing would have been well and truly ticked, and I'd be A-OK to move on from that particular chapter. (Mixing my metaphors again, I know!)

Call me easily pleased, but the truth is, pet wise, I'd be happy with a gold fish... or better yet, this little hex bug goldfish that Rory got as part if his birthday present this week.  I mean look at him- isn't he a cutie? So life like but with the added bonus of no smelly fish food to buy AND his water never needs changing. He even thoughtfully stops swimming after five minutes so as to save on batteries. I mean what's not to like?

This is my kinda pet, peeps- gimme maintenance this low every time. And yet I fear, I'm on my own with this one. Despite initial enthusiasm, Rory's already losing interest and more worryingly still, I discovered Loverboy on the pet section of Gumtree again late last night...and let's just say that he wasn't looking at aquariums.

Yes, the writings on the wall and  it's only a matter of time before another furry four legged friend joins our clan, so the best I can hope for  is one of the non shedding, medium size variety. (Apparently the wee ones aren't even dogs at all, which I'm pretty sure is canine discrimination.)

Your thoughts and ideas on this matter would certainly be welcome .....in a lukewarm sort of way.
Happy Friday lovelies x

The New Addition

We did it! After years of pleas and Santa list requests we finally got a dog! Now, I won't lie...I'm pretty nervous. It's a big step, at least for me...I've never in my life had a dog before......and I've never felt I was missing anything either! (Did I just say that out loud?)
But oh, he is cute. He's a twelve week old cockapoo. (Desperate name altogether, I know- it's a cocker spaniel/poodle cross, which is somewhat better than a bulldog/shitzu cross-apparently that's a bullshit !)
So anyway, I did all my research and after much reading/stalling we plumped for this 'non shedding, sociable family dog'. Critically, he's small to medium sized even when fully grown...which logically means small to medium poos as well-there's your deal breaker right there!
He's only been with us for 24 hours so it's all still very early days and did I mention I was nervous!?.....but even so, something tells me we've done the right thing. Oh and I forgot to mention-he's called Coburn- it was my granny's maiden name and I think it suits him-what do you think?
